1. Captain Marvel is a little boy named billy batson who changes into Captain Marvel when he yells the magic word "Shazam"
2. He has the powers of the God's given to him from the mighty wizard Shazam.
3. Billy's only ever described (to my knowledge) as a boy, writers thought it wise to leave that ambiguous in order to attract a wider age bracket.
